Binge is a streaming service from Foxtel designed to go head-to-head with the likes of Netflix and Stan. If you're curious about what a budget-take on Foxtel looks like, here's everything you need to know about Binge.
What is Binge?

Binge is a streaming service with a heavy focus on entertainment. Its extensive content library covers prestige drama, sitcoms, reality, crime, documentaries, animation and so much more across movies and TV shows.
Binge, Kayo, and Flash News are all Foxtel creations and so fall under the same umbrella, Hubbl (formerly Streamotion). Customers can set up one account to link each subscription - but more on that later.
Hubbl also refers to the new set-top box and TV sets from Foxtel due to launch soon.
Hubbl lets you access all your streaming services in one digital hub.
How much does Binge cost?
Binge pricing starts at $10 per month for the entry-level service with ads in High Definition (HD) and one simultaneous stream. Spending $18 per month will get you up to 4K HD and two simultaneous streams, and $22 per month gets you up to the same quality but with four simultaneous streams.
No matter how much you spend, you'll get access to every TV show and movie on Binge.
Here is how Binge's pricing compares to other streaming services in Australia:
Finally, here's how it compares to a full Foxtel package:
How to choose the right Binge plan
To pick the right Binge TV plan for you, you'll mainly need to consider your budget and how many people will use the platform simultaneously.
If you and your friends share streaming logins, then you'll want to account for at least two screens at the same time, which will set you back $18 per month for the Standard plan.
However, if you're a large household that tends to binge shows separately, rather than all together on the couch, we'd recommend choosing its Standard or even Premium plan. Not only do you get multiple simultaneous streams (four for Premium subscribers), but you'll also be able to watch content in up to 4K HD. This isn't the 90s. We all deserve that.
On the other hand, if you're on a budget or don't mind lower-quality streaming for whatever reason, you can always choose its Basic Subscription. For $10 a month, you'll still get the same content in HD but you will cop ads at a rate of about one per hour.

Tangerine's "Speedy NBN" plan is our pick for the best NBN 100 plan for March.
What can I watch on Binge?
Binge has a robust content library, with thousands of hours of TV and movies from partners such as BBC, FX, DreamWorks, NBC Universal and more.
Binge is the home of popular international series like Saturday Night, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Taskmaster, The Office (US) and The Walking Dead.
You'll also find plenty of locally produced shows like the award-winning Colin from Accounts, Selling Houses Australia, Real Housewives of Sydney, The Twelve and STRIFE.
Does Binge have live channels?
In addition to streaming on demand, you can also watch a range of live TV channels streaming directly through Binge. These include some of the same channels you'd normally see on traditional Foxtel but without the expensive price tag or hardware and installation fees.
The mix is angled more towards crime, drama, reality, kids and documentaries. Keep in mind you won't get to pick and choose programs to watch on these channels. Whenever you click on a channel, it will simply play from whatever point it's at in real-time. At the time of writing, there are more than 40 of these live channels:

What are the best internet plans for Binge?
Streaming TV and movies on your home internet - whether through Binge or another service - will chew up a lot of data. That's why we recommend getting a plan with unlimited data on the NBN 50 speed tier at a minimum. Here are some of the cheapest plans in our database that fit that description:
Does Binge have a free trial?
If you haven't tried Binge before, you're eligible for a free seven-day trial with no lock-in contract.
You can sign up online via the Binge website. Simply choose the plan below that best suits your budget and viewing needs and we'll take you there:
What features does Binge have?
Binge is fairly light on features some of them include:
- Up to 4K HD stream quality on Standard and Premium plans available on compatible devices
- Up to four simultaneous streams on Premium and two on Standard
- Bingelists, lets you create a watch later list for each Binge profile
If you have an existing Kayo or Flash account and you link your Binge account to it, entering new credit card details will automatically update any existing credit card information across any other Hubbl subscription you have. This is a handy feature if you're using a new card that is about to expire on your other Hubbl accounts.
Free Binge from Telstra
Currently, Telstra personal post-paid customers receive a free two-month Binge's Standard subscription plan, usually valued at $18 per month. If you'd prefer Binge Premium, you can still score a heavily discounted monthly subscription through Telstra at just $4 for the first two months.
This deal is also available for new sign-ups to NBN or 5G home internet plans. Unfortunately, the offer doesn't stack so you can't get four months free Binge by switching your phone and internet over to Telstra.
What are the alternatives to Binge?
Streaming services are a dime a dozen these days, so if Binge isn't for you there are plenty of other choices. Including Netflix, Stan, Paramount Plus, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV Plus, BritBox and more.
New kid on the block Max, is the new home of HBO content in Australia. There you'll find big hits like House of the Dragon, The White Lotus, The Last of Us as well as classics like Friends.
The OG streaming service, Netflix, continues to be one of the go-to platforms for online content. It's easy to use and has plenty of variety plus a handy 'Play Something' functionality to put an end to continuous scrolling. Netflix is well thought-out and truly offers something for everyone. It's home to popular sci-fi titles like Stranger Things, reality shows like Glow Up and Is It Cake? and thriller/drama mysteries like The Pale Blue Eye and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
Disney Plus is quickly becoming a favourite streaming site among Australians with its wide variety of categories. It's the home of not only Disney and Pixar content but also Star Wars, Marvel and National Geographic. Those are some impressive categories!
With a generous 30-day free trial period, bonus discounts on Amazon products and free delivery on selected items, Amazon Prime Video is a streaming service with many highly acclaimed TV shows and films including Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, The Boys, Carnival Row, Reacher and much more. Additionally, Amazon Prime Video offers access to premium and speciality channels.
Foxtel Now
Binge and Foxtel Now continue to co-exist, at least for the time being. Binge is positioned more as a traditional streaming service, while Foxtel Now is more of a digital alternative to proper Foxtel. While Foxtel Now can get you access to everything Foxtel, Binge has a more focused library.
Binge is also much cheaper compared to Foxtel Now, but if you want access to more on-demand content such as sports that aren't available on the platform, you may want to consider Foxtel Now.
In saying that, if you're a sports fan you could just check out Kayo instead.
