As of today iiNet is no longer selling new Fetch TV services to customers.
Existing iiNet customers who have Fetch will be able to keep using their Fetch service as per usual but they will no longer be able to purchase new Fetch Multiroom subscriptions or purchase new Fetch remotes.
Customers will still be able to add or remove Fetch channel packs, access streaming apps through Fetch and buy or rent titles from the Fetch TV and movie stores.
A TPG spokesperson told WhistleOut that any remaining Internode customers with Fetch TV will also be affected but these customers are in the process of being moved to iiNet after the TPG Group (which owns TPG, iiNet, Vodafone, felix and Internode) started phasing the brand out.
"We have been simplifying our business and product offerings so we can better focus on enhancing customer experiences for our core products, including internet and mobile services," said the spokesperson.
This change leaves Telstra (which bought a majority stake in Fetch in 2022) as the sole telco offering Fetch TV alongside retailers like JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Domayne, Kogan.com and Harvey Norman. Aussie Broadband stopped offering Fetch to new customers in August of last year.
Fetch is an alternative set-top box to Foxtel or Hubbl and allows customers to access a range of streaming apps, add channel packs from $6 per month and access a movie library.
Telstra offers the Fetch TV set-top box outright from $198 (for the Mini) and $396 (for the Mighty) but if you sign up for a 24-month plan you'll pay $8.25 or $16.50 respectively instead. There's no difference in total price, but it means you don't have to pay the whole amount upfront.
Telstra offers free three months on the Ultimate Pack (normally $20 per month) and the Movie Box (normally $1.99 monthly).
Customers who sign up for a 12- or 24-month repayment plan can earn Telstra Plus points on their Fetch purchases and use them to rent and buy content on the platform.
