eSIM technology has made it easier than ever to stay connected when travelling. If you've got an eSIM-compatible phone, you don't need to waste time finding a physical SIM when you get to your destination. You can just download an eSIM before you even leave, meaning you'll have mobile data as soon as you land.
If you're heading to Italy, Spain, Germany, France, or even Poland, we've rounded up our favourite travel eSIM options for Europe. All of these travel eSIMs work across multiple countries, but make sure you read the fine print to check your destinations are all covered.
Airalo European travel eSIM
Airalo is one of our favourite options for getting a travel eSIM. We've tested it in several destinations, including multiple countries in Europe. Pricing is affordable, connectivity has always been fast and reliable, and the process of buying and installing the eSIM is simple.
If you buy a travel eSIM for Europe through Airalo, you can get a 10GB plan with a 30-day expiry for $58 or a 50GB plan with a 90-day expiry for $156.
Airalo European eSIM mobile plans cover 41 countries. This includes destinations that aren't normally covered by other European SIMs, including Albania, Bulgaria, and Ukraine.
Just be aware that Airalo travel eSIMs are data-only, so you won't be able to make phone calls. Plans will have 5G connectivity in some destinations.
Airalo also sells travel eSIMs for individual countries, if you want to save money are going to just one destination. For example, 3GB of data costs $20.50 on one of Airalo's Europe eSIM plans, but $16 on one of its Italian travel eSIM plans.
