best samsung tablet plans

Trying to figure out which Samsung tablet is right for you? Frett less because we've broken it down here. The manufacturer has three main tablet series: the Active, A series and S series. Which one is best for you will depend on what exactly you'll use your tablet for. Read on to pick your Samsung tablet and find the best plan to go along with it.

If you're more interested in an iPad, we can help you pick which one is best for you over this way instead.

Best Galaxy Tab Active plans

All tablets are beautiful. Some are dainty and shiny, and others are rugged and scruffy around the edges. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Active series are the Ron Swanson of the tablet world. Tough, durable, they have a moustache (they don’t, but an anthropomorphic version of them would).

Marketed as a business tablet, these devices comes with an IP68 water and dust resistance rating. Each device is encased in a heavy-duty, durable case and can be used while wearing work gloves. Currently you have the choice between the Active3 and the Active Pro. Both have S Pen support but there are a few upgrades to the Pro device.

Here are how the two compare.

Galaxy Tab Active3 Galaxy Tab Active Pro
Display Size 8-inch 10.1-inch
S Pen support Yes Yes
Camera specs 13MP rear, 5MP front 13MP rear, 8MP front
Internal memory 64GB or 128GB 64GB or 128GB
External memory support Up to 1TB Up to 1TB
Battery capacity 5,050mAh 7,600mAh
Price From $679 From $969

These tablets are only available through Telstra at the moment. Tablet plans are structured similarly to mobile phone plans: you’ll pay the RRP of the device in equal monthly repayments, and then you’ll pay for a data SIM with a monthly data allowance on top of that. All plans are contract-free but you’ll need to pay out the remaining value of your tablet before you head out.

Note that buying a tablet on a plan is generally more expensive as telcos tend to sell 4G enabled devices rather than the base WiFi model.

Best Galaxy Tab A series plans

If you’re on the lookout for a cheap tablet, the Galaxy A series is hard to go past. Starting at just $379 it sure is a large screen to do things on. The current A series, the A7, has a generous display measuring in at 10.4-inches, but only comes with 32GB internal memory.

However, as Samsung tablets still support external memory sources you can expand this to 1TB with a simple micro SD card. You won’t get S Pen support, but for an entry level tablet, the price matches the features.

Here are the Galaxy A7 specs.

Display Size 10.4-inch
S Pen support No
Camera specs 8MP rear, 5MP front
Internal memory 32GB
External memory support Up to 1TB
Battery capacity 7,040mAh
Price From $379

Just like the Active Series tablets, you’ll be able to pick up an A7 on a plan with a few providers. Each provider takes the RRP of the device and splits it up into equal monthly repayments. You can then choose your data SIM to add on top of that for an extra fee each month.

Best Galaxy Tab S series plans

Samsung’s S series tablets are the top of the range, similar to the manufacturer’s S series phones. The latest iteration - the Tab S7 and S7+ - come with beefy internal memory, dual rear cameras and 5G connectivity. These babies are Samsung’s version of the iPad Pro, coming with S Pen compatibility, and the ability to expand the device using a keyboard cover.

The main difference between the S7 and the S7+ is the size of the display and the battery. You’ll also get a smooth scrolling experience with 120Hz refresh rate on both tablets. Here are how the two compare side by side.

Display Size 11-inch 12.4-inch

Both the S7 and the S7+ are available through a range of telcos on a plan. This is paid in two parts, the first being the RRP of the tablet split into equal monthly instalments, the next being the cost of a data SIM with a monthly allowance. The price of these added together is your total monthly bill.
