Binge is increasing the price of its Standard tier to $19 per month from November 1, up from $18 per month. All other Binge plans will maintain their current price.
Binge customers on the Standard tier will pay the new price from their first bill in November. The streaming service has been sending emails to customers to notify them of the change. Customers paying for Binge through Apple or Optus will get an email from them as to when the pricing change will kick in.
Binge's price hike is a little more conservative than what we've seen from other platforms. Earlier this year, Netflix increased the price of every plan by as much as $3 per month. Similarly, Disney Plus introduced a new Premium tier effectively increasing the price by $4 per month for customers who wanted to maintain access to features like 4K.
The news follows Binge's introduction of annual plans, allowing customers to commit to a year upfront for a discounted rate. A Standard annual subscription is billed at $149 per year, which is a $67 per year saving when compared to the old monthly price, or a $79 per year saving when compared to the new monthly price.
