How we choose the best Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra plans

Mobile phone and internet plans are our focus at WhistleOut, so we put a lot of thought into how we judge these awards.

Phone plans are complex products with a variety of different options to think about. You pick a handset, figure out what you'll use it for, and then you try and compare your options across the available telcos. Do you want data-free music streaming? Free football streaming? Do you want to pay off the phone quickly, or stretch it out over 36 months?

We choose our recommendations based on both 24-month and 36-month terms and consider the total cost of ownership. We compare what you'll get with the plan, focusing on data, international call credit, and content bonuses.

Which Samsung phone is right for you?

Here are some of the best Samsung phones available right now:

Samsung Galaxy S25

Is Samsung's new entry-level flagship, featuring a larger battery, slightly larger screen, and Galaxy AI.  While it's not a massive upgrade over last year, the Galaxy S25 will almost certainly be the go-to Android flagship for many.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

If you want to go all out, there's the Galaxy S25 Ultra - Samsung's crown jewel. This year's update brings about a titanium design, a new flat screen, a faster 50MP 5x telephoto zoom lens, and Galaxy AI.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE

The Fan Edition of the Galaxy S23 the FE is the cheapest of the flagship Samsung phones released in 2023. It functions as a nice entry point to the Galaxy S series, and has a lot of high-end features with a smaller price tag.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is Samsung's most polished foldable phone, realising the vision of a multitasking powerhouse. If you want to do three things on your phone at once - and have one of the most unique devices on the market - this is the one for you.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

If you're not quite ready to break the bank on the Fold 5 but still want to experience the thrill of a foldable then the Flip 5 could be your shot. It's a fun model which features a new super-sized Cover Display which lets you get more out of it.

Samsung Galaxy A34

Samsung's Galaxy A34 is a good phone for a good price. If you're looking for a more affordable Samsung handset, the Galaxy A34 is hard to fault. It has reliable day-to-day performance, a reliable battery, and a fantastic display. Better yet, Samsung is promising four major software updates and five years of security updates. That's unheard of for a phone in this price bracket.

Choosing a Samsung Galaxy plan

On our mobile phone plans page, you'll be able to compare Galaxy pricing and inclusions across every provider. But there's a lot more to plans than just cost and data. Here's a breakdown of the major benefits you can expect each provider to offer.

Telstra Galaxy S25 plans

Telstra

  • Data-free access to Apple Music
  • Access to the Telstra Plus perks and rewards program

Telstra Galaxy plans are often the priciest on the Australian market, but they do come with a host of perks.

Telstra lets you pay your Galaxy off over 12, 24, or 36 months, and all plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your cap, your data will simply be slowed to speeds of 1.5Mbps, which is still fast enough to stream video in SD. But speeds may be slower during peak times.

Optus Galaxy S25 plans

Optus

  • Discounted access to Optus Sport
  • $5 for 5GB of roaming data when overseas

Optus Galaxy plans come with solid data inclusions.

Higher-end Optus plans also come with unlimited international calls to selected destinations included with the plan.

All Optus plans are contract-free, and devices can be paid off across 12, 24, or 36 months.

In addition, all Optus postpaid plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your allowance, you'll be slowed to 1.5Mbps rather than being billed $10 per gigabyte.

Vodafone Galaxy S25 plans

Vodafone

  • Bundling options
  • Access to Vodafone's famous $5 roaming

Vodafone Galaxy plans may not come with the kinds of freebies and perks you can get from Optus or Telstra, but they have bonuses when it comes to bundling.

If you have a Vodafone mobile plan, you can get most of the telco's internet plans - NBN, 5G home internet, and 4G home internet - at a discounted rate.

Vodafone customers also save 5% on their total mobile bill for each postpaid mobile plan on their account after the first. This discount maxes out at 20% and doesn't include handset repayments.

Vodafone postpaid plans are all free from excess data charges. When you go over your plan allowance, you'll be capped at 2Mbps.

You'll also get access to Vodafone's famous $5 roaming, which is still easily the best way to travel with your Australian phone number.

Our Editor's Picks awards are selected by our team of data experts. We may earn a commission if you click on one of the products listed, but a service provider isn't required to have a commercial relationship with us to be eligible for consideration.
