Why buy your iPhone on Vodafone?

Vodafone's plans tend to focus on flexibility, offering a variety of "no lock-in" contracts and multiple phone repayment plans. As the company splits service plans from your actual phone cost, mobile plans are offered on a month-by-month basis, while phone repayments come with 24- or 36-month payment terms.

You'll pay the same total amount for your device no matter which term you pick, as each option — 24-, or 36 months — divides your phone's price over months in your repayment plan. There's no interest charged and with Vodafone's network guarantee, if you don’t enjoy your plan within the first 30 days you can cancel, however, you will need to pay out the remaining balance of your phone.

These days, all Vodafone plans include no excess data charges. This means once you use up your data allowance for the month, you'll simply be slowed to capped download speeds of 2Mbps.

How do Vodafone iPhone plans stack up?

Telstra iPhone plans are often the most expensive option but tend to be regarded as having the best coverage in Australia, especially in rural areas. There are also perks like Telstra Plus membership (which offers cheap movie tickets) and unlimited international SMS to any country. You can pay your iPhone off over 24- or 36-months. If you go over your data allowance on any Telstra iPhone plan, you'll be able to keep using your service at 1.5Mbps speeds.

Optus' iPhone plans are a little bit cheaper than Telstra and the data inclusions tend to be a little bit bigger. Plans are contract-free, and you can pay your iPhone off across 24, or 36 months. Optus iPhone plans all come with discounted access to Optus Sport. If you go over your data allowance on any Optus iPhone plan, you'll be able to keep using your service at 1.5Mbps speeds. Customers can also bundle subscription apps with Optus SubHub to save up to 10% with any three or more services added.

Vodafone has become one of the best places to score a bargain, with the telco regularly offering deals like discounts and extra data. You can your phone off across 24, or 36 months and change your base plan once per month. As with Telstra and Optus, you'll get unlimited data at slower speeds if you go over your allowance, but capped speeds are a bit faster at 2Mbps. Vodafone plans also come with the telco's signature $5 roaming and Vodafone mobile customers can also save $15 per month on Vodafone NBN plans. Vodafone customers can also get access to pre-sale concert tickets for selected events.
