Apple One is a plan from Apple that bundles together services together like Apple Music, Apple TV+, and Apple Arcade in exchange for a discount. If you're deep in the Apple ecosystem this could be a great way to save money, but is it a good deal?
Apple One Individual
An Individual Apple One plan will set you back $24.95 per month and gets you Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 50GB of iCloud Storage.
Here's how that would breakdown if you were paying for everything individually:
- $12.99 per month for Apple Music
- $12.99 per month for Apple TV+
- $9.99 per month for Apple Arcade
- $1.49 per month for iCloud
That's a total of $37.46 per month. This Apple One bundle represents a saving of $12.51, which is the equivalent of getting Apple Arcade for free, along with iCloud storage. If you're already subscribing to Apple Music and one other service, an individual Apple One plan is almost a no-brainer.
While this is called an Individual plan, Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade always include Family Sharing, even on this plan.
Apple One Family
An Apple One Family plan will set you back $31.95 per month and gets you Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 200GB of iCloud Storage. The main difference between an Apple One Family plan and an individual plan is that it can be shared with up to five other people. You also get four times the iCloud storage.
Here's how that would breakdown if you were paying for everything individually:
- $19.99 per month for Apple Music Family
- $12.99 per month for Apple TV+
- $9.99 per month for Apple Arcade
- $4.49 per month for iCloud
You'd be paying $47.46 per month if you were subscribing to all these services, which means the Family Apple One bundle represents a saving of $15.51. As with the individual Apple One bundle, this ostensibly means you get Apple Arcade for free, along with your iCloud storage. If you’re already subscribing to an Apple Music family plan and either of the secondary services, an Apple One Family plan would make a lot of sense.
Apple One Premier
A Premier Apple One plan will set you back $49.95 per month and gets you Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+, and 2TB of iCloud Storage.
Here's how that would breakdown if you were paying for everything individually:
- $19.99 per month for Apple Music Family
- $12.99 per month for Apple TV+
- $9.99 per month for Apple Arcade
- $19.99 per month for Apple News+
- $14.99 per month for Apple Fitness+
- $14.99 per month for iCloud
That's a total of $92.94. This Apple One bundle represents a saving of $42.99 per month. That's the equivalent of getting Apple News+ and Fitness+ for free, as well as a discount on one other service. If you're already spending close to $50 per month on Apple services, Apple One Premier seems like a no-brainer.
As with an Apple One Family subscription, the Premier plan can be shared with up to five other people.
What else should I consider before subscribing to Apple One?
If you're interested in Apple One, you should make sure that you're actually using the services included in your account. There's no point in subscribing to a Premier Apple One plan if all you're using is Apple Music and Apple Arcade - at that point, you're just better off getting the services individually or going for the entry-level individual plan.
