WhistleOut provides insight into how buying a refurbished phone can help people make savings on their next device.
Telco comparison website WhistleOut's Managing Editor Alex Choros said cheap smartphones and refurbished devices are a booming trade.
"We've now seen many phones under $300 from brands like Oppo, realme, Vivo and Alcatel."
"There are great phones around the $500 to $600 price point. One of our favourite phones right now is the Google Pixel 4a, which is a $599 phone for the same kind of camera you would find for a phone twice as expensive," he said.
Despite bargain phones being a hit in the market right now, Mr Choros said the new Apple iPhone 12 range is still drawing strong attention from consumers.
"We've seen there is still an appetite for iPhones, over half of Australians are interested in buying an iPhone 12 and many of them want to do so this year," he said.
