The fourth largest supplier to Verizon in the US, today launched in Australia with two budget Android tablets.
After AT&T and Verizon offered free calls to friends and family in Japan following the earthquake and tsunami disaster, Lifehacker is reporting Telstra are also now offering free calls: Telstra will not charge for calls to Japan made using its mobile and landline networks. The fee-free period (which also covers text messages) runs from 6:00am on Friday 11 March through until the same time on Friday March 25, with calls to Japanese numbers billed as zero cost.
Verizon's CEO Dan Mead has recently confirmed that Apple will eventually be adopting LTE "4G" technology. However, there was no mention of when and on what device. The comment has now thrown fuel back on the iPhone 5 rumour fires that had finally started to dwindle as we approached the March 2nd launch of the iPad 2 and public interest took a shift.
