TPG is currently running a price-beat guarantee for its NBN plans where it will beat the price of any eligible provider over the first 12 months.
This offer is valid for TPG's NBN 25, NBN 50, NBN 100, NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans. Fixed Wireless NBN plans are excluded from this offer, however.
Eligible providers include Aussie Broadband, Belong, Dodo, Extel, Optus, Superloop, Tangerine, and Telstra.
Here are the plans from these providers and TPG across the five speed tiers:
You'll need an FTTP or HFC NBN connection type to sign up for an NBN 250 plan.
You'll need an FTTP or HFC NBN connection type to sign up for an NBN 1000 plan.
The price-beat guarantee is only available to new TPG customers. There's no current end date for this offer.
TPG is one of the larger NBN providers. In terms of price, it tends to sit in the middle of the pack. Its faster plans tend to sit just within or just shy of being in the top 10 cheapest NBN plans. Of the providers eligible for price matching, the cheapest sit at around $10 and 15 less per month.
How does TPG's price match guarantee work?
It's a fairly straightforward process:
- Step 1. Sign up to one of TPG's NBN plans
- Step 2. Submit a claim quoting your TPG account number, contact details, the date you signed up and the details of the lower advertised price you saw. The claim must be submitted within seven days of signing up
- Step 3. TPG will check your claim and email you with the results within 10 business days. If successful, your first 12 months with TPG will be less than the submitted lower advertised price.
If your claim is successful, then TPG will either make a plan price adjustment or add a credit to your account. You'll need to supply evidence of the eligible provider's advertised price and the duration of the offered price. It's a good idea to take screenshots or save the plan's Critical Information Summary (CIS) document.
One catch is that the offer is forfeited if you cancel or change your plan within the first 12 months. If you stay, after the first 12 months you'll be charged the ongoing rate for that NBN plan.
According to the ACCC's latest broadband performance report which looks at 12 providers, TPG's was the fourth fastest NBN provider. Its customers were able to achieve the maximum speed available on their NBN plan 101.8% of the time during the busiest 7pm to 11pm period of the day.
