We all know that when our families surf the web, there is an ocean of internet sharks waiting below the surface for a chance to attack.
Smawatch.gov.au currently lists nearly 150,000 reported scams in 2022 alone*, with some of the top threats including phishing attacks, identity theft and hacking. Victims of these kinds of cyberattacks can lose large sums of money when scammers misuse the personal information they have stolen.
While it’s important to be alert to the various threats you may encounter, keeping your family safe online takes more than just vigilance.
Exetel Home Secure is a fully featured web security suite available to Exetel NBN internet customers. And as a special offer, if you join the Exetel family now, you’ll get two-months free access to Home Secure to try it out, plus an extra free month if you choose to continue the subscription before the end of the trial period.
Existing Exetel customers can add Home Secure to their current NBN plan by logging on to the My Exetel customer portal and clicking the ‘Subscribe Now’ button. There’s no lock-in contracts for the Home Secure service, so you can activate and deactivate your subscription at any time by following the same steps.
How does Exetel Home Secure work?
One of the key differences between Exetel and most other security services is that Home Secure runs on Exetel servers and not on a computer or device in your home. This means that your security configuration applies across all devices connected to your NBN service (ie: your home Wi-Fi) will benefit from all the protection Home Secure has to offer. There’s nothing extra to download and install.
The secondary benefit of this approach is that it has no impact on the performance of your devices either. Security software tends to be a hefty resource hog on devices, but all of that heavy lifting is performed by Exetel, so you won’t notice the difference.
The various security measures employed by Home Secure are monitored and frequently updated by the Exetel security engine, so new threats and malicious sites can be added to the list of net-nasties as soon as they are identified.
To make sure that Home Secure doesn’t block valid sites and services, you always have the option to submit unblock requests. Once reviewed by the security team, these changes can be made to the filtering logic, allowing all Home Secure customers the benefit of your updates.

What do you get with Home Secure?
Exetel’s security package includes a broad range of online safety tools bundled together. Unlike other online security software, you won’t need to pay separately for cybersecurity and family safety features; it’s all part of Home Secure.
For the one monthly fee, Exetel gives you access to:
Web security, protecting your devices from common hacking techniques, known viruses, and ransomware attacks,
Anti-phishing, which blocks websites designed to look like legitimate sites, like banking services, to steal your sensitive identification data,
Anti-bot technology, which blocks the installation of bots based on up-to-date threat intelligence.
Plus you get a number of excellent family safety tools, which protect tweens and teens from bad actors online, and from developing bad internet usage habits too:
Parental controls, give you the power to block sites and services that you feel are inappropriate for people in your home to access,
Safe Search toggle, makes it a breeze to turn on Safe Search features on common sites like Google search and YouTube,
Focus-time, lets you set scheduled times when entertainment, gaming and social media sites are accessible, and when it’s time for your family to take a break and get some homework done.

Content filtering isn’t limited to the standard array of adult websites, but can extend to a number of other topic groups as well. The system has a number of pre-built content categories, like Drugs, Weapons, Tobacco, and Dating sites, to name a few; and these can be blocked by selecting the various flags in your Parental Control settings.
You can also blacklist/whitelist individual websites as you need. It’s also important to note that the monitoring of your internet traffic is performed algorithmically, and no one from the Exetel team are monitoring your internet usage at any time.
How to activate Home Secure
New Exetel NBN customers are free to test drive Home Secure as soon as they get connected, as it’s switched on by default with all new services. You can also extend the Early Bird Access offer, and get a third month free, by selecting the option during the sign-up process.
To get connected, and keep your family protected, simply visit Exetel and switch to any of its excellent, no-contract NBN plans today.
