Optus enterprise and business customers can now get Starlink satellite internet through the telco. In addition to handling installation and billing, Optus will also offer business customers support with troubleshooting and help desk services with priority support.
For businesses with up to 500 staff, the service will be sold as "Satellite Internet for business", starting at $264 per month (made up of the $176 Starlink plan cost plus the $88 Optus Support Package). This does not include the cost of the hardware, which is $599 for the Starlink Standard Kit or $3,740 for the Starlink Flat High-Performance Kit. Installation costs are also additional and vary depending on the location.
The service can be used in regional areas or the outskirts of metro areas as a primary connection or as a backup to safeguard against natural disasters such as bushfires and floods.
Optus' Starlink Internet for business plans will come in the three Fixed Priority plans offered by the satellite provider with 40GB, 1TB and 2TB of priority data, plus a 6TB option. Once priority data is exhausted, customers will have access to unlimited standard data.
Starlink's Fixed Priority speeds offer up to 350Mbps downloads and 40Mbps uploads in peak periods. Standard data speeds can reach up to 270Mbps. As a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) system. speeds aren't guaranteed because connectivity relies on a clear and uninterrupted view of the sky.
