The following is a non-exhaustive list of the types of NBN providers WhistleOut monitors in our database.
Australian politics may be a mess, but it's not all bad in our nation's capital: the NBN build is all but done and there are plans and prices to cater to all Canberrans (and imposters from Queanbeyan). The important thing to note is while nearly all Australians can get NBN, the way in which you connect to the NBN will vary depending on where you live.
If you're in an apartment block you might have a Fibre to the Building connection, if you're in a new development, you might be lucky enough to have Fibre to the Premises, or if you're a little more rural, you might have a Fixed Wireless connection.
While at the end of the day, everyone will be connected to the NBN, the technology type that connects you can affect the plans you're able to sign-up for. Fibre to the Premise plans are different to Fixed Wireless plans which are again different to Satellite.
That's why it's important that you run an address check when looking for a new NBN plan. This way you can ensure you're comparing the right type of plan.

No matter where you live in Australia, you'll typically get to pick from the same set of NBN providers if you're looking for a new plan. Canberra is no exception. You can choose a plan from major providers like Telstra and Optus, or you could opt for a smaller provider you might not have heard before like Superloop or Tangerine. If you're having trouble choosing, check out our guide to the best NBN providers based on the most popular providers our visitors search for.
Most people in Canberra should now have access to the NBN network. Not sure? You can confirm your address is eligible by checking the NBN rollout map.
As part of a recent initiative, NBN Co is working toward the goal of enabling 90% of Australian homes and businesses to get gigabit NBN speeds by 2025. A large part of this work will involve allowing customers who currently have a Fibre to the Node or Fibre to the Curb NBN connection to upgrade to Fibre to the Premises, for free. The backend work necessary for these upgrades has already begun, with NBN Co and some areas now already eligible to upgrade.
Below are all the towns and suburbs in the Australian Capital Territory that will be eligible for FTTP upgrades.

NBN Co is upgrading areas, rather than individual addresses. After the work in your town or suburb is done, you'll simply need to order an NBN 100 plan or better. This will start the process of getting your individual address upgraded to FTTP for free.
